Brenden Sewell is a lead game designer at E-Line Media, and has spent the last 5 years designing and creating games that are both fun to play and have educational or social impact. He has been building games since 2002, when Neverwinter Nights taught him an invaluable lesson about the expressive power of game design. In 2010, he graduated with a degree in cognitive science from Indiana University. Since then, he has focused on enhancing his own craft of game design while harnessing its power to do good in the world, and exposing more people to the joy the profession holds.

Just finished chapter 1 and its pretty clear on what you need to do

Just finished chapter 1 and its pretty clear on what you need to do. I have no game development experience other than this book which is fine because it treats you like a beginner and explains everything. The only reason this isn't a five star review is because every once in awhile I got stuck with what the instructions wanted me to do (needs more pictures on where you need to go). However even with the issues I still found out where it wanted me to go pretty easily.

Great introduction, but some details are out-of-date. Following examples will require some tinkering/experimentation.

This book is a great crash course into blueprints - it covers a fair number of situations and components of the system.

The only drawback is a fair number of minor details in the examples are already out-of-date. Don't expect to always be able to follow the examples verbatim - you'll have to do some tinkering to iron out some of the issues with the minor changes to the engine.

This is a good introductory book to get into if you want to learn how to use Unreal's Blueprints. It's easy to read and to work through the projects as you use Blueprints to expand on the basic first person shooter template that comes with the Unreal Engine. The one issue I have with the book is that at times it can be a little light on explaining why you are doing certain things.
